Bridal Shower Checklist


To Do Check List for BRIDAL SHOWERS:

3+ Months Before the Bridal Shower:
Talk to the Bride, even though you are planning the shower, her inputs is vital.
  • What type of shower does she want?
  • Does she want a theme shower?
  • Does she want cocktails served at the shower?
  • Does she want a formal or casual arranged shower?
  • Where does she want the shower?
  • Set the date! If it is to take place at a restaurant, hotel, resort, etc., make reservations now!
  • Create the guest list.
2 Months Before the Bridal Shower:
  • Call outof town guests to let them know of the date so they can start making reservations and plans now.
  • Get your budget established.
  • Purchase invitations.
  • Get together with the other special people you are planning the shower with and brainstorm ideas for decorations, food, etc.
  • Order any special items such as a cake, linens, or any rental items you may need.
  • Get your address list together.
  • Make a detailed list of who does what and assign tasks at this time.
1 Month Before the Bridal Shower:
  • Address your invitations.
  • Mail the invitations.
  • Shop for decorations, paper goods and other items you will need.
  • If guests should bring any food, call to confirm what they are bringing.
2+ Weeks Before the Bridal Shower:
  • Place flower order if you are ordering flowers for the arrangements.
  • Buy your shower gift for the bride.
  • Make a shopping list of food and drinks-buy any hard to find ingredients at this time.
  • Purchase alcohol if you are serving cocktails.
  • Pick up any items such as punch bowls, coffee urns, etc., now.
1 Week Before the Bridal Shower:
  • Confirm previous reservations.
  • Confirm orders and delivery times.
  • Confirm RSVPs.
  • Buy groceries.
  • Plan the shower games .
1 Day Before the Bridal Shower:
  • Get ready any menu items that can be prepared ahead of time or do any prep work.
  • Decorate; get your favors and games prepared.
  • Call any of the other hostess-confirm what they are bringing and the times they will arrive.
The Day of the Bridal Shower:
  • Prepare all food and refreshments.
  • Arrange tables and set out favors and decorations.
  • Don't get stressed too much.
  • Remember to have fun and enjoy this day also.
  • If something goes wrong - go with the flow.
QUICK PARTY TIPS
  1. Timing is everything. Shoot for a date that lands a month or two before the day of the wedding.
  2. Breaking the ice. Games make excellent ice breakers when the guests don't all know each other.
  3. Don't go overboard. Play two or three games at most. You need time for the bride to open her gifts.
  4. Take a seat. Make sure all guests have a comfortable place to sit with a great view of the bride.
  5. Serving cocktails? Remember, moderation is key and never drink and drive.

Wedding Checklist: 12 Months Timetable

Here's a helpful timetable of what has to be done, from 12 months to one day before the big day.
The time spent in preparation for your wedding is a blessed, inspired time in every girl's life. It is unforgettable, albeit filled with mixed emotions and unavoidable worries. But it should be spent wisely, practically, and beautifully. Try your best to make decisions early, and accomplish small tasks when you can, in order to leave time and energy to spend with your family and your family-to-be, and to nurture your relationships as you step into the most meaningful and important one - your marriage. So here is a useful schedule to guide you along your way, with reminders of details you must attend to, and helpful hints to make the planning process a bit easier.

12 Months to go
- Select a date
- Set the budget, and consult families for this
- Select principal sponsors, wedding entourage and liturgical members
- Start working on your guest list
- Start attending the two – day marriage seminar (a church requirement)

10 Months to go
- Finalize the wedding date
- Reserve the church / ceremony venue and the reception site
- Hire a wedding coordinator / planner if desired
- Start canvassing designers for your bridal gown and entourage gowns
- Start looking around for your invitation design and misalette
- Finalize your wedding entourage

6 months to go
- Start meeting your designer to finalize designs and to schedule measurements and fittings for you and your entourage
- Decide on your color motif
- Decide what the groom will wear (barong or suit) and start meeting prospective tailors.
- Select your officiating priest
- Start interviewing prospective suppliers like invitation makers, florists, photographers, videographers, musicians, choir, soloist, caterers, wedding cake, make – up artist and bridal cars
- Have your invitation and thank you cards printed

5 months to go
- Decide on and finalize contracts / agreements with all suppliers needed
- Finalize your guest list, including full names, addresses and contact numbers of each guest
- Finalize fitting schedules for you and your entourage, and they should start fitting their gowns
- Work on your misalette contents and consult a priest
- Start looking for your wedding ring design and purchase your ring, and don’t forget your arrhae
- Discuss details of menu with your caterer and set a food tasting date
- Choose souvenirs and gifts for your entourage

4 months to go
- Consult a travel agent for your honeymoon plans
- Purchase your souvenirs and your gifts for the entourage. (If you are wrapping the gifts and or the souvenirs, start working on this)
- Invitations should be delivered by this time. Have them written by a calligrapher
- Finalize your church and reception songs with your musicians and/or choir or soloist
- Have your misalette printed for the first proof

3 months to go
- Have the misalette printed for the final printing
- Start working on your church requirements
- Have your trial make – up
- Finalize design details with your florist / decorator for the church and reception
- Finalize your menu, beverage and other details with your caterer
- Finalize your honeymoon details and itinerary with your travel agent

Two weeks to go
- Notify your caterer of your final number of guests
- Start working on your presidential table and reserved tables (if you have any)
- Deliver all entourage’s gowns
- Pick – up the groom’s outfit
- Break in your bridal shoes

One week to go
- Despedida de Soltera
- Buy all last minute items that you need like stockings, robe, etc.
- Confirm your bridal car pick – up and your room reservation
- Turn over any last minute details to a responsible representative – your sibling, aunt or best friend – who can make decisions and follow-ups for you. Give her/him copies of all your supplier agreements and to-do lists so that you can relax and be confident that all will go as planned.

One day before the wedding
- Go to a spa and have a good massage
- Have your manicure and pedicure
- If you will be dressing up at a hotel, check in and bring proper pre – packed luggage
- Relax!

Church Wedding Requirements

Baptismal and Confirmation Certificates: these are for both the bride and the groom. These must be new copies and must have an annotation: "FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES ONLY" and must have been secured not more than three (3) months before the date of marriage.

Marriage License: can be secured from the city or municipality hall of either the bride or the groom.

For those who are civilly married, a certified true photocopy of the Marriage Contract with register number of the city or town where the marriage was performed must be submitted one week before the wedding date.

Canonical Interview: this interview with the bride and the groom will be done one month before the wedding date and will be done by the parish priest or his assistant. The schedule of the interview will be given upon the signing of the application form. Failure to report on the interview date or failure to notify the office of any change in the schedule will mean cancellation of the application and reservation.

Pre-Marriage Seminar: both the bride and the groom have to attend this. The schedule for the seminar will be given during the canonical interview or you may inquire at the parish office. Some churches will allow you to attend other pre-wedding seminars such as the Catholic Engaged Encounter or Discovery Weekend. (Note: if you have already attended either one of these, inquire at the parish office if they recognize these weekend seminars in lieu of the parish's seminar.)

Permission: permit from the parish of the bride must be secured and presented to the parish office of the chosen ceremony venue (form will be provided for by the parish office of your selected church.)

Wedding Banns: these will be provided during the canonical interview and have to be immediately brought to the respective parishes of the bride and the groom for posting. These have to be returned to the office after three Sundays. (Note: the respective parishes may ask some requirements for the posting of the banns [i.e. a picture each from the bride and the groom]).

List of names and addresses of principal sponsors (Ninongs & Ninangs): this has to be submitted to the parish office one week before the wedding date. Church policy requires at least a pair of sponsors and, ideally, a maximum of six sponsors.

Application For Marriage License



Marriage License – is a requirement for either a Civil or Church wedding to be held in the Philippines.
There is a prescribed 10 - days waiting period from the filing of applications to the release of the marriage license, which is valid anywhere in the country for 120 days after the issuance of the license.
The "Application Form" for a marriage license must be secured at the Local Civil Registrar from the city, town or municipality where either the bride or the groom habitually resides. The personal appearance of those getting married is required in applying for a marriage license.
Birth Certificate: Certified True Copy required of each the contracting parties with the respective registry number. This document is issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO). Which can now be applied for online through the NSO web site: http://www.census.gov.ph/

Parents' Consent (for 18 - 21 years old) or Parents' Advice (for 21 - 25 years old: Under Philippine Law, the legal age for marriage is 18. If the contracting parties are between the ages of 18 and 21, they must present written consent to the marriage from their father, mother or legal guardian. While any contracting party, between the age of 22 and 25 must present written parental advice, i.e., a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry.

Certificate of Attendance in a Pre-Marital Counseling and Family Planning Seminar: Conducted by the Division of Maternal and Child Health at the Municipal / City Hall in the same municipality or city where the contracting parties applied for the marriage license.

Also needed to secure the marriage license are an NSO - Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR), a residence certificate, and passport - sized picture.
