Here's a helpful timetable of what has to be done, from 12 months to one day before the big day.The time spent in preparation for your wedding is a blessed, inspired time in every girl's life. It is unforgettable, albeit filled with mixed emotions and unavoidable worries. But it should be spent wisely, practically, and beautifully. Try your best to make decisions early, and accomplish small tasks when you can, in order to leave time and energy to spend with your family and your family-to-be, and to nurture your relationships as you step into the most meaningful and important one - your marriage. So here is a useful schedule to guide you along your way, with reminders of details you must attend to, and helpful hints to make the planning process a bit easier.
12 Months to go
- Select a date
- Set the budget, and consult families for this
- Select principal sponsors, wedding entourage and liturgical members
- Start working on your guest list
- Start attending the two – day marriage seminar (a church requirement)
10 Months to go
- Finalize the wedding date
- Reserve the church / ceremony venue and the reception site
- Hire a wedding coordinator / planner if desired
- Start canvassing designers for your bridal gown and entourage gowns
- Start looking around for your invitation design and misalette
- Finalize your wedding entourage
6 months to go
- Start meeting your designer to finalize designs and to schedule measurements and fittings for you and your entourage
- Decide on your color motif
- Decide what the groom will wear (barong or suit) and start meeting prospective tailors.
- Select your officiating priest
- Start interviewing prospective suppliers like invitation makers, florists, photographers, videographers, musicians, choir, soloist, caterers, wedding cake, make – up artist and bridal cars
- Have your invitation and thank you cards printed
5 months to go
- Decide on and finalize contracts / agreements with all suppliers needed
- Finalize your guest list, including full names, addresses and contact numbers of each guest
- Finalize fitting schedules for you and your entourage, and they should start fitting their gowns
- Work on your misalette contents and consult a priest
- Start looking for your wedding ring design and purchase your ring, and don’t forget your arrhae
- Discuss details of menu with your caterer and set a food tasting date
- Choose souvenirs and gifts for your entourage
4 months to go
- Consult a travel agent for your honeymoon plans
- Purchase your souvenirs and your gifts for the entourage. (If you are wrapping the gifts and or the souvenirs, start working on this)
- Invitations should be delivered by this time. Have them written by a calligrapher
- Finalize your church and reception songs with your musicians and/or choir or soloist
- Have your misalette printed for the first proof
3 months to go
- Have the misalette printed for the final printing
- Start working on your church requirements
- Have your trial make – up
- Finalize design details with your florist / decorator for the church and reception
- Finalize your menu, beverage and other details with your caterer
- Finalize your honeymoon details and itinerary with your travel agent
Two weeks to go
- Notify your caterer of your final number of guests
- Start working on your presidential table and reserved tables (if you have any)
- Deliver all entourage’s gowns
- Pick – up the groom’s outfit
- Break in your bridal shoes
One week to go
- Despedida de Soltera
- Buy all last minute items that you need like stockings, robe, etc.
- Confirm your bridal car pick – up and your room reservation
- Turn over any last minute details to a responsible representative – your sibling, aunt or best friend – who can make decisions and follow-ups for you. Give her/him copies of all your supplier agreements and to-do lists so that you can relax and be confident that all will go as planned.
One day before the wedding
- Go to a spa and have a good massage
- Have your manicure and pedicure
- If you will be dressing up at a hotel, check in and bring proper pre – packed luggage
- Relax!
